Hi, I have updated Xbox One to the November patch recently. Since then, when I shut down the console from the controller, the light on the console blinks for a while and turns off, the monitor screen goes blank, and the light on the controller also turns off. But the light on the power brick is still blue instead of amber. I also hear the hard disk noise from the Xbox One. I have an external hard drive connected to the console, too.
I didn't see this behavior earlier. I played it rarely in the past couple of months. Before this week, I launched the console almost a month ago or more than that, and I think it received the October patch. I'm not sure why I see this behavior all of a sudden, even though I haven't modified the power options from the settings. It's always been Shut down (Energy-saving) as the active option. But the current behavior feels like Sleep instead. When I turn on the console immediately after the shut down, it boots up so quickly that I see my profile to log in and automatically takes me to the home screen. Earlier, after a shut down, and immediately powering on the console, it used to boot up from the Xbox One logo.
Because of this behavior, I was afraid to power off the console from the mains after it shut down. The only thing that worked for me was to try a force shutdown. I held the power button on the console for 5 seconds and it completely shut down. The light on the power brick turned amber.
Yesterday night, I was able to do a full shut down from the power options in settings after I changed it to Sleep and then back to Shut down (Energy-saving). I repeated it again, and this time the full shut down worked from the settings, without changing it to Sleep.
What could be the reason for this new behavior? Is it caused by a recent update? I normally shut down the console from the controller, and it always worked. I hear no noise after the shut down, and feel safe to turn off the console from the mains. Can a new update solve it?
