Setup: Xbox game pass ultimate, Geforce Now Performance.
Was playing Stalker 2 yesterday, today got hit with the "oops could not sync" error and surprise surprise, brought back to right after I finished prologue. Both Xbox and Geforce support pages were explored, could not find a definite answer to a straightforward question: how do I restore my backup save from yesterday? The whole process was painful and full of brick walls so pardon me for being frustrated. Can someone please help me? Thank you.

  • What did you try to do and what happened? (Be specific—mention your Xbox model, PC version, Insider ring, or anything relevant.)
I tried launching the game same as before, via Geforce Now. That is when I got hit with the error. Tried to launch directly via Xbox, save files were gone already.
  • What have you tried to do to fix it already? (List everything you’ve done to fix it.)
Tried restarting the system, relogging into both Xbox and Geforce services, repairing the Xbox client. No luck. Tried searching online, how to see my cloud save settings and restore backups. Brick wall.
  • Have you searched the error code or for similar problems?
    Yes, per above

If the GeForce computer didn’t upload the save file then it is gone.

If there is a conflict between cloud and local you get a single screen asking which you want to use and then that’s it.

The problem is, if I select to try again, it keeps popping back up. If I simply close the warning message, it loads me in without any save games at all. And if I choose to sync last saved data, it rolls me back to where I was in prologue. So it's like hitting my head against the wall

Sync last saved data is usually your only option if the computer with the save isn't going to upload it - that is the legitimate last copy of your save in the cloud.
