#Can't play multiplayer even with a gamepass account

So I have an account with a gamepass ultimate on my xbox
Said account is already has this Xbox set as home
When I tried to play age of empires 4 earlier with friends it didn't let me access the online and kept asking to subscribe to gamepass which I already am otherwise I wouldn't have been able to access the game
Tried with other games and the same problem is still happening
Anyone got any ideas?

If a game is free you do not need gamepass to play online.
If a game costs money then you do need game pass to play online.

If you have Gamepass Ultimate and it is telling you to buy game pass, then you most liekly are logged in with the wrong account

Well I already checked and the account has the Xbox as home
If it wasn't I wouldn't be able to access the games in the first place

i didn't say "see if it is home" lol. I said 'verify you have an active gamepass subscription on the account you are logged in as"

I don't have a subscription on the account I am playing with
I assumed having the gamepass account as home will allow me to access gamepass and play multiplayer on all accounts

Or at least that's how it used to work

Are you able to launch the games and go online successfully on your main account that does have game pass ultimate?

Well because the gamepass account is my brother's
And sometimes he uses it on his PC
So me being logged into it all the time is inconvenient
