ah ok windows 10 or 11 @grave haven ?
10
also what device u using? a wireless receiver or something else?
idk im just using a normal controller that came with my xbox and some cable i have
Ah so just a cable but its not registering the controller at all via usb
correct
after i plug it in my controller works for maybe 5 seconds then stops working
have u ever used a controller from xbox on the pc before this?
asking incase the controller needs a update etc
i have but it was a while ago
ok its usb-c connection type ur using or is usb3.0 cause there different trouble shooters for them
Go to device manager and see if it shows up in there
^ yep
Select Start, then Run, then type sysdm.cpl, and then select OK.
On the Hardware tab, select Device Manager.
When the controller is successfully installed, you see three entries in Device Manager. There should be two entries under Human Interface Devices:
HID-compliant game controller
USB Human Interface Device
Additionally, there should be a third entry in under Microsoft Common Controller for Windows Class:
Xbox One Controller for Windows
If you see yellow exclamation points next to any of these entries, there's a problem with the installation.
Double-click Xbox One Controller for Windows.
On the Driver tab, select Update Driver and check the status of the issue.
from the source on the forums https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/xbox-one-controller-not-recognised-by-windows-10/da5381c4-fb2b-4d4b-a856-51f2c20f551f if u was usb c there was another link on that page about it there
in the device manager i see xbox peripherals and under that is xbox controller
check if needs update on that way using that bit above ^
it says the best drivers for your device are already installed
ok have u tried moving it to different usb some mothers boards a powered and unpowered usb causing the problem
i just did and now it says unknown usb device (device descriptor request failed)
yep try updating controller on xbox see if thats the cause
hopefully its not the cable itself
ok time to try again
nope just troubleshot it thought it be a controller update needed that all it was
glad its working for you though happy gaming 😄
whats it saying now?
unknown usb device (device descriptor request failed) still
and you tried all the usb ports u have there?
next thing to try is a different cable tbh
yeah it still says it tho
alr lemme look
wonder if a twist or something in the cable had it a few times myself so no biggy if thats the case thankfully
it works!!
