Hello so I live in an apartment where I have NO access to the modem and I don't know if the upnp is on by default nor how to get my nat type past moderate so I went to go buy a router and I set everything up to see if the would help seeing how I'd have more control over the router I run all my devices through but still no change and the only reason I started this wild journey was to play nba2k 25 with my friends which I had no issue doing a couple days ago on the same internet please someone help I've tried everything

Oh also the things that I've tried to whomever reads this is restarting router again don't have access to the modem made sure upnp was active on the router tried both wireless and ethernet ports changed ports to a different part of the apartment. As for where the Nba game is concerned I uninstalled and reinstalled I'm running 600-700 GB up and down with minimal ping and the router I just bought is a Netgear Nighthawk Ax5

Oh and all error codes pertaining to the game are networking errors so I know its on my side

I've now tried connecting it to wireless and I still get the same results

You've not stated what the exact issue is.

That being said, if you're in a place that you have absolutely no access to the primary router, then the only thing you can really do is try and work with whoever does have access to it. Adding your own router won't make things better (oftentimes worse) unless you have serious networking knowledge.
