Hello, I've been playing xbox for 6 years now, and I recently got a new xbox series s model, I only have around 350GB of storage and am looking to buy an external hard drive to add more, can anyone give me some tips and advice or recommendations, as I don't want to buy something that won't be compatible, thanks! (Not sure if this question is allowed)

The title says an Xbox one but the tag selected and the description say Xbox series. Please confirm

then there is an important note

Any USB 3 hard drive / ssd will work for legacy games (xbox one, xbox 360, backcompat games)
Any Series S|X optimized game can only be installed to either the internal storage or the special Seagate/Western Digital 'expansion cards'

but buying the external hard drive for yoru legacy games is a great way to free up space on the internal drive for your modern games

What is a yoru legacy game? I can't find helpful results on google anywhere, sorry I don't have much experience with stuff like this😭

then for your series optimized games the only options are the official 'expansion cards' https://www.xbox.com/en-US/accessories/hard-drives/seagate-expansion-card

Western digital has some too. But you want one that has “expansion card” explicitly in the name.
