Due to a recent bug first occurring around the start of September, if I play Call of Duty (new “hub” simply titled Call of Duty), GTA Online or Forza Horizon 5* I am then unable to screenshot, record game clips, launch anything else, or occasionally even start/join parties.
*These are the only games that have had the issue so far out of everything tested.
The first game this occurred on was CoD, originally making me think it was some kind of bug involving the open Black Ops 6 beta, but the fact that it’s spread to more games means it’s either infected my console or it’s not relative to it.
The only possible theory on it being several games is that CoD itself had become corrupted, which had then somehow leaked that over to other games, all three of which are CPU-intensive permanent multiplayer games that need a lot of processing.
Broken down explanation:
Play any of the games. No issue whatsoever.
Take a single screenshot or game clip. Again no issue whatsoever.
Attempt to take another screenshot or clip, but it doesn’t do it. Try to manually record it or even start recording via the guide, and it’ll just either load infinitely or crash the guide.
Close the game down for one reason or another.
X/Y capture option is still visible on the home screen, and obviously does nothing other than disappear if used.
Occasionally have the guide crash immediately after trying to start a party, with absolutely no form of fixing this.
(Random as to whether this happens or not):
Attempt to launch a game or app.
See the cover image, then either hear all of the intro sounds on a black screen, or get a black screen with nothing at all. This has been tested to be permanent.
Only solution is to cold reset the console.
There's no mass reports of it (hence being unpatched), but I've had at least two other people say they have the same issue, so it's not exclusively my console.
I’m hoping it isn’t, but is my (and other victims’) console corrupted? Do I need to factory reset?
