  1. What is your issue?

Be specific. If your issue is with an Xbox console, please include which model and what your OS version is, as well as if you are in an Xbox Insider Program ring. If your issue is on PC, please include relevant versions (Windows version, any version information for specific apps in question, etc).

  1. What troubleshooting have you tried?

  1. Have you searched #1091756150644555946 for anyone else with your issue or researched your issue on the internet?

If so, what results have you seen and tried?

If you do not provide answers to all of these questions, you are not likely to receive a response.

Once you have posted, please ensure you have answered all the questions and be patient. Do not go to other channels and ask for help, that slows things down.

If you need immediate support, please contact Xbox Support.

If your wifi uses both 2.4 and 5ghz frequencies the Xbox will select the one with the strongest signal.

If your WiFi router has two separate WiFi’s with a different name for 2.4 and 5 then you just join the other one.

first of all, i want to explain the main difference between the two
5Ghz has shorter waves which gives you higher speeds but lower range
2.4Ghz has longer waves which gives you lower speeds at higher range
now for android you can install a app called Force Wifi 5 GHz, but im not sure about other devices
what you can do, if you have access to your routers admin panel you can change the name of each frequency to be different
say if your router is named DD-WRT then your device will pick which one is stronger like the person above me said
but you can change the ssid from each one to be like "DD-WRT 2.4 GHz" and "DD-WRT 5 Ghz" and you can select them yourself from the device you want to connect

if you xbox is in the same room as your router than i would suggest you use 5GHz
but if its on the other side of your home then i would suggest 2.4GHz
