I hope this will make sense but I’m technologically illiterate so the best I can do is use probably very simple terms to explain what’s going on. I’m trying to use cloud gaming to play starfield on Xbox one. It works fine when my wife is at 5GHz, but for some reason my Xbox only has that some of the time. Other times it’s 2.4GHz. I don’t change networks, I’ve been told by the guy paying for the wifi that we only have 5GHz wifi and I’ve no idea how to force the Xbox to use the higher value. Any help would be appreciated.

Its normal for that to happen
2.4ghz as better signal and over all connection than 5ghz. 5ghz does tend to have faster speeds and better ping your router and console will connect to the best option at any given time that's the point in dual band.
If you want it to use 5ghz only then you can split the wifi frequencies so they each broadcast there own SSID, How you do that will depend on your router and set up. Also doing this could make your connection unplayable some of the time for the above reason.
