So basically i turn in my Xbox One S and the light turns on like normal and then after a few seconds it turns off. But the xbox still works?

The power light will stay on until the xbox software fully shuts itself down.
it could even stay flashing/slowly blinking for many minutes as downloads/uploads complete.

oh. umm, i don't know if the xbox one supports it but on the Series consoles they added the ability to turn off those lights last year... it is in teh settings somewhere under like night mode or power options or something. See if you have it set to disable or dim the light?
