I woke up today and my screenshots older than a month or two are gone and idk why…

Xbox sent out notifications several months ago to advise that captures over 90 days old would be deleted.

They gave sufficient notice so people had time to back up the captures or upload to OneDrive before they were removed.

I never said they were stored on One Drive. I said that they gave people time to back them up to One Drive if they wanted to.

Because storage is expensive and with millions of users with tons of captures - many of which were completely forgotten about - that uses a lot of data, power etc.

They deleted captures that were stored on the Xbox network that were over 90 days old.

If they were stored on your console, they should still be there. If they're not, then they got removed some other way.

Rhinne explained already. They purged items older than 90 days. If your console is internet connected at any point, then it would be updated to reflect. There were so many notices and articles published about this, would have been circulating social media as well.

Sorry that you seem to have missed it, but it was notified in stages and that started quite a while back (maybe even as far as late last year).

Also, as Rhinne explained, captures saved locally should still be there. If they're not, you would need to reach out to support to see what happened.

Nobody is being dumb, it's just very expensive to store all this data in the cloud when half the time it goes unutilized. There are a few ways you can back things up that you want to keep.

It's probably worth doing a quick Google search on the notifications that we're sent out and when they were sent

There's no point debating that point further.

They sent notifications to all users.

It's unfortunate you didn't see them. Claiming you never received them isn't going to change anything.
