#xbox controller double tapping issues

so i got this xbox controller around a week or two ago and i have this problem where sometimes when i tap the "A" button it registers as two taps instead of one. Now this doesnt happen every time i tap the button but it happens frequently and it gets pretty annoying considering how it sometimes completely skips dialogue in my game. Any help?

It sounds like your xbox controller is broken, go back to the store and ask for a new one,

And you say that it happens sometimes and not all the time, it is also a sign that it is broken.

Xbox has warranties for all controllers. You may be able to send it to microsoft and get it repaired
