I have an Xbox 1 S and its starting to break now, i recently had a power outage while playing and the power turned on and off multiple times. This has been going on for about two days where my console takes an overly normal amount of time to boot up and has been on a grey screen for 30 mins before i turned it off and back on again. It is now booting up semi correctly but still taking time and has ended up deleting games then saying for example: Fortnite needs an update. And the size being 93 Gb. My console is still running slow even on the menu, games take about 2-5 minutes just to start booting up after clicking on them. If anyone has a method of fixing this, please do reach out.

Thank you for your post! Please remember the support here is not official and is handled on a volunteer basis. Once you have posted your concern here, we ask that you be patient and not spam your thread elsewhere in the server, that will slow the process down.

If your issue is regarding an account/billing issue, you will need to reach out to Xbox Support directly.

In order for members of the community to provide adequate support, make sure you have provided answers to the following:

  1. What is your issue?

Be specific. If your issue is with an Xbox console, please include which model and what your OS version is, as well as if you are in an Xbox Insider Program ring. If your issue is on PC, please include relevant versions (Windows version, any version information for specific apps in question, etc).

  1. What troubleshooting have you tried?

Please list everything you have attempted.

  1. Have you searched #1091756150644555946 for anyone else with your issue or researched your issue on the internet?

If so, what results have you seen and tried?

If you do not provide answers to all of these questions, you are not likely to receive a response.

Once you have posted, please ensure you have answered all the questions and be patient. Do not go to other channels and ask for help, that slows things down.

If you need immediate support, please contact Xbox Support.

Additionally, no one here can assist with Enforcement actions of any sort.

Have you performed a full factory reset? You said earlier you "reset" the console but that's ambiguous. It could mean "a power cycle" or it could mean "a factory reset".

#

As much as it may bother you to lose your installed games, it is possible that formatting the hard drive will cure this. If that doesn't work, I don't know what else would.

If you unplug the external storage device it won't be affected.

Thank you

Have you already tried booting the XBOX without the external device attached? A failing external storage device can cause problems I believe.

I was asking because if you had said it was multiple years old there's a chance it could be failing. I have to warn you though, that in the same way there's a chance the internal storage could be failing. If that's the case then there's nothing I would advise you to do except seek professional repair.

If that does work, what do i do with the drive?

I just booted it up and nothing changed

😬

OK I didn't think that was likely, but leave the external drive unplugged for now and reset the console.

#

You'll find that option in the settings menu, but if you need help to find it I can try.
