Which Xbox adaptor are you referring to specifically? Do you mean one of these, used on PC to connect controllers and headsets?

the small on
Do you also have an Xbox console?
no
Do you have any other controllers?
You could try testing the controller on that Xbox to see if it connects. That will help to check if there's an issue with the controller or not.
You could also ask your friend to see if they will let you test one of their controllers to your wireless adaptor.
is there anything else i coukd do, i cant go to my friends house right now
What have you tried so far?
R u using the dongle for pc or with ur friend xbox?
only dongle
Rumbly, it's a PC adaptor
yes
It didnt work?
Obviously not Rumbly, or there would be no need for this thread.
@vernal willow What have you tried so far?
i tried to search my device management
Do you see the USB device in there?
yes, Xbox adapter for windows
And you have rebooted the PC, right?
Turn it off, turn it back on.
That doesn't really matter.
ok ima try it right now
A restart is always the best first thing to try with pretty much any tech issue.
i did
When was the controller last tested on your friends Xbox?
pretty sure it was a month ago
Okay, then two things.
-
Test it again and make sure it works. If it doesn't connect to their Xbox, it's an issue with the controller
-
If it does connect to the Xbox, ask your friend to try pairing one of their other controllers to your wireless adaptor and see if that works.
It it doesn't, then there's a problem with the adaptor.
If it does, then some more troubleshooting would be needed with the day one controller.
Well at least you can use it in the meantime.
I already said what to do.
