So with the imminent shutdown of the Xbox 360 store, I decided to turn my Xbox 360 on to check the sales, ect on the store. However, when it's above anything besides 720, the screen flickers bad enough I can barely navigate. Even on 720, it still flickers but significantly less, I can at least navigate enough to do things. Is this the GPU failing inside the console or some other issue like with the HDMI cable, ect? Anything I can do to stop this from happening? If I need to send it for repairs, I definitely will be doing that, I do have a spare Xbox 360 stored away I can get out but would love to keep the original going for a while.

Do you still get the flicker using component output?
I use HDMI, my TV doesn't have that I don't think. It has stopped since I disabled it from trying to get display directly from the TV and selected 720p
Not entirely sure if that will stay if I play a game or not yet.
Yeah you are going to need to troubleshoot to figure out what’s causing it. Trying a different hdmi cable or port on the tv, using component etc to narrow it down.
Yeah, gonna try that after I get done with what I'm doing, it seems stable atm and if it can hold out till I can test and take it for repairs, that'd be great.
If it works by manually setting a resolution, I'd just stick with that.
That's exactly what i'm doing right now. It's stuck on 720p but looks fine, I may try 1080p and see if it works after it's been ran a few times or see if there is a setting on my TV that works with it. Otherwise it will stay like that long as my games are not seriously stretched. If all else, will pick up a monitor or something that works for it.
I would expect there's some flakiness in the handshake between the the console and the TV. Without being able to try different TVs or consoles it'll be hard to tell. In addition to what you're doing, you could also try a different HDMI cable.
Yeah, I'm gonna go dig through my cables when I get a chance and see if I can find a long enough HDMI. I think the one I had for my Switch originally will be fine.
It could also be the HDMI Switch I'm using, that specific port. Can see if I got one long enough to connect to the TV itself and see how it works, even if it's temp.
