#Xbox Series X Makes Buzzing/Vibration Sound During Disc Instalment [RESOLVED]

So I’ve been wanting to make sure by any of you if this is normal.

I bought “Wolfenstein II: New Colossus [The Disc Version]” recently today, got home and I took out the disc from its little box, inserted it into the console disc insert/outsert to download and just wait. A couple seconds after I put it in the console it started making a low humming sound, that came with the effect of vibration on my console and on my countertop. And the sound seemed to be coming from the bottom (Maybe from the disc hard drive I don’t know). And then I thought it was normal until I realised I did the same thing but with a different game disc not too long ago and it didn’t make the sound from what I can remember.

Is there something wrong with my console? Is it a factory defect? Is it the disc?
Or is it something normal with the console once you’ve had it for a couple months or more?

Asking anyone who knows about the console!

# proud edge Thank you for your post! Please remember the support here is not official and is...

Xbox Version (To my understanding)
Xbox Series X [1TB], With a Black Colour Coating (Standard Edition?)
Controller: Yes.
Keyboard: No.
(Answer to Question 1, hopefully)

  1. My issue is mainly the sound and the vibration coming from the console itself. Because last time I remember I don’t think it did that last time when downloading a disc. It could also be because of maybe the disc itself causing it? But I checked it and there didn’t seem to be any damage on it.

  2. I haven’t done anything to fix it yet because I’m scared if I could damage it or something. I don’t trust myself with fixing hardware issues😅. Also because I don’t know how to fix a problem like that.

  3. I have done a bit of research on the internet, other people have had problems and they say “It’s a factory defect” but those problems were from 2 years ago when the console came out so I’m unsure about whether it’s just that causing the problem.

Extra Info: I bought it from EBGames if any of you are wanting to know where I got it from?

Hope these were the answers to the questions!

Sounds pretty normal to me. The disc drives can make quite a bit of noise.

Disc drives can make a slight buzzing sound

lost python
#

Like it didn’t feel light, felt more of a mild to heavy vibration

polar hornet
#

I mean yeah, it spins fast

You serious?

lost python
#

Well I don’t know much about hardware, sorry about that

#

I thought there were components that read the whole thing while it’s still

#

Never knew it spun though. I’m not an expert😅

teal merlin
#

It spins extremely fast. That’s what’s making the noise and causing the vibrations.

#

A disc drive every since they came out has a fixed laser (that moves sideways) as the disc spins

polar hornet
#

Yes because it’s reading constantly

Thanks for the added knowledge

#

Now I know for next time if someone has the same issue

#

But idk my One S never made that sound

#

They are different consoles yes

#

Different drives and hardware designs.

polar hornet
#

Disc drives can sound different, but they do the same basically

That’s different, or well the HDD makes some sound, but it’s not the topic really

teal merlin
#

Yes but that’s not the part making the noise

lost python
teal merlin
#

It’s the disc drive

Not the storage drive

Alright thanks

Something new I’ve learnt I guess
