You don’t need a credit card to use a gift card to buy a game. But you do need a credit card if you want to buy a recurring subscription

yea there is a different type of gift card for game pass that does not require a credit card.

It will specifically say an amount of time (1 month, 3 month, 6 month) on it rather than a currency amount.
