Okay so the other day I took my sister to GameStop so she could get her a brand new PS5 since she's been on PS4 for a very long time. Mind you I've had a series x for a couple years up to this point. I bought it used since I couldn't find any in stores at the time. And she's showing me a game. Me and her play together and it just blows my console out of the water in terms of performance. Everything is set on high while I still have to keep all my settings on low. And she isn't getting any lag or frame drops. Is it time for me to buy a brand new series x? Like the older these get the performance, probably degrades in them right?

Bro no way you would need another new gen console by now
Idk man it seems that way. I bought mine used so it had been through it with someone else, but idk if that's the reason I'm having issues. It shouldn't be right?
If you’ve never deep cleaned it then you prob should, I seriously don’t suggest another $500 for another Xbox that could perform the exact same
Are you sure you don’t have a defective fan?
I completely took it apart to clean it
Took out the main chassis and cleaned the heat sinks and power supply
Check your date on Microsoft Xbox website for the repair thing or whatever, one time use but expires like 3 years after you buy your Xbox
They would replace your Xbox if it wasn’t working good
Wouldn't I myself had to have bought it from them? I bought it from someone off of marketplace so I doubt that would be valid
Yes it’s probably not valid anymore since yours was bought used, might as well check though
What did you mean by defective fan btw?
It seems to work fine
If your Xbox was getting hot from overheating bc of a defective fan that could make performance bad is why I was asking, other than that the only thing I could think of is maybe you got a defective cpu in your Xbox?
I remember there was talk about a cpu chip shortage and that’s why series s and x wasn’t being produced for a while
Maybe you could have it be brought to somewhere like GameStop so they could look at it to see if something’s wrong? And as long as your fan is working it should be fine
But other than that my friends Xbox series x stays on for days at a time and his is always cold
Yeah mine has definitely got something wrong with it then
Something’s wrong with my Series s too maybe , gets hot asf pretty quick
Does age also affect performance? I think I got it about a year or 2 ago from someone who had bought it on release.
No I don’t think so, atleast from what I know I mean it shouldn’t, my friends and his dads Xbox both run like 3x better than my series s, always smooth 60fps
Even after they leave them on for days at a time which you should not do💀
Yeah I always turn mine off
But I guess it was already damaged by the time I got it perhaps?
Yea like damaged by Xbox somehow during the making or shipping, hopefully you get it figured out tho man, ridiculous we spend $250-500 for a console just for it to not work right sometimes or for it to have something wrong with it
No I mean like damaged by the previous person through mistreatment
But yeah also sucks in that circumstance as well
Yea if so your kinda screwed then bro, could maybe get it repaired by Microsoft though instead of buying a new one
GameStop works with Microsoft so if it was refurbished by them or anything it should’ve had a renewed repair ticket thing I’m pretty sure, my Xbox series s was pre owned and refurbished by GameStop but it had a new repair thing on the Microsoft website
Do not buy from GameStop though please bro @soft jacinth 💀my Xbox was dirty and so was my controller when I bought it , $100 elite 2 controller with blue stuff inside on a button
Ew that's gross. I'll probably just buy a brand new one and get this one repaired. That or convert to PS5. I'm just trying to figure out which got optimized first for the game I play
Just not from GameStop
Yea don’t buy anything from GameStop unless it’s like a shirt💀 also control freaks are $20 in store but $3 off brand online btw
My elite 2 controller also was disconnecting like every hour for a month when I first got it
Refurbished at GameStop is not trustworthy either, I wish I knew that before I bought mine
