Okay so the other day I took my sister to GameStop so she could get her a brand new PS5 since she's been on PS4 for a very long time. Mind you I've had a series x for a couple years up to this point. I bought it used since I couldn't find any in stores at the time. And she's showing me a game. Me and her play together and it just blows my console out of the water in terms of performance. Everything is set on high while I still have to keep all my settings on low. And she isn't getting any lag or frame drops. Is it time for me to buy a brand new series x? Like the older these get the performance, probably degrades in them right?

Once you have posted, please ensure you have answered all the questions and be patient. Do not go to other channels and ask for help, that slows things down.

Certain topics are not appropriate for discussion, such as: game sharing outside of your household, self-repair and disassembly of hardware, piracy, emulation, violating Xbox policies or Terms of Service, explicit material, not-safe-for-work topics, discussion of leaks, and questionable or illegal activities. Other topics are subject to moderator discretion.

NOTE: Even though Xbox is offering controller repair kits for sale now, self-repair discussion in this server beyond linking to said kits is still not allowed. Self-repair requires a moderate level of skill and knowledge to do and any errors in doing self-repair can result in damage that is not covered under any warranty. If you have questions that are not answered by the guides linked off the controller parts pages in the store, you likely do not posses the skills or knowledge for performing the self-repair and should seek out a repair shop to perform your repair.

If your Xbox was getting hot from overheating bc of a defective fan that could make performance bad is why I was asking, other than that the only thing I could think of is maybe you got a defective cpu in your Xbox?

#

I remember there was talk about a cpu chip shortage and that’s why series s and x wasn’t being produced for a while

Even after they leave them on for days at a time which you should not do💀

But I guess it was already damaged by the time I got it perhaps?

GameStop works with Microsoft so if it was refurbished by them or anything it should’ve had a renewed repair ticket thing I’m pretty sure, my Xbox series s was pre owned and refurbished by GameStop but it had a new repair thing on the Microsoft website

#
