I wanted to see if anyone has any knowledge on how to change my email for my log in. When my son was very young I allowed him to use my email for his xbox. I eventually bought my own xbox and used my wife's email. I would like to have him change his xbox log in to his own email and move my email to my log in so I can take my wife's email off. I want it to recognized all of the games that my son and I have on our accounts without having to start from scratch.

Thank you for your post! Please remember the support here is not official and is handled on a volunteer basis. Once you have posted your concern here, we ask that you be patient and not spam your thread elsewhere in the server, that will slow the process down.
If your issue is regarding an account/billing issue, you will need to reach out to Xbox Support directly.
In order for members of the community to provide adequate support, make sure you have provided answers to the following:
- What is your issue?
Be specific. If your issue is with an Xbox console, please include which model and what your OS version is, as well as if you are in an Xbox Insider Program ring. If your issue is on PC, please include relevant versions (Windows version, any version information for specific apps in question, etc).
- What troubleshooting have you tried?
Please list everything you have attempted.
- Have you searched #1091756150644555946 for anyone else with your issue or researched your issue on the internet?
If so, what results have you seen and tried?
If you do not provide answers to all of these questions, you are not likely to receive a response.
Once you have posted, please ensure you have answered all the questions and be patient. Do not go to other channels and ask for help, that slows things down.

You can change the email address associated with an account, yes.
BUT, the 'xbox' and 'microsoft' parts are not seperable.
The single account includes:
- azure
- onedrive
- office 365
- purchase history of movies and games
- xbox stuff like friend list / achievements / game saves / etc
So you can not split things in to two, and you won't be able to have "your games on both of your accounts" ... only one account gets to maintain ownership of the games, and that same account keeps all the game progress/etc

Thanks. Yeah essentially I just want my email attached to my games and progress. I want my son's email attached to his. I'm concerned if I try to move my email to my account then he will lose all of his stuff without having a chance to attach it to his email first. And if he tries to change his account to his email first I think it will delete my email account info that has office 365 and such attached to it. Most likely move all of it to his email if he did that
The safest thing is to just create a totally new account for your kid and they start all their games over
Yeah he has a lot of time in his stuff lol. He was about 8 when I set his xbox stuff up not thinking about the future. He is now 19 so I am trying to figure out a good work around so he doesn't lose anything and neither do I. I wonder if I just allow him to take over my microsoft account with his email and I just transistion 365 and a couple of other subs over to a new email for me that I set up and then move my game stuff over to a new email. If support would be a bit easier to contact that may help but it is a nightmare trying to reach someone.
You can't transfer things between accounts. One of you is going to have to start over.
a good work around so he doesn't lose anything and neither do I
Unfortunately as I mentioned before, you can not seperate things.
It is all or nothing.
One account will keep everything, the other account keeps nothing - it is up to you to decide which is which of course
No I'm not talking about transferring things between accounts. Simply changing the emails attached to the accounts. He keeps his stuff under his email and I keep my stuff under mine. But I may have to create a whole new email because once he changes the email to his email and tells them he no longer has access I'm guessing my email won't be useable anymore. I just have to figure out the logistics.
He keeps his stuff under his email and I keep my stuff under mine
There is no 'his stuff' and 'your stuff'. There is only "the stuff that exists today which is associated with a single account"
You have 2 options:
- you create a new account for you, and you start everything over from scratch and your son keeps everything
- you create a new accountg for your son, and he starts everything over scrom scratch and you keep everything
You can change the email address used to sign in to the account but that's all
No there are two accounts now. I have my stuff under my wife's email. I want to use my email. His stuff is under a different email
and please note I earlier mentioned that 'stuff' isn't just 'xbox stuff' it is linkedin, azure, office 365, etc
if you already have 2 accounts than I guess I'm not sure what the problem is lmao
Yeah office 365 is all I really have

If you just don't like the email address being used for the accounts, that link shows how to change it
Because I want it under my email and I want his to be under his email. Right now mine uses my wife's email and his is up under my email. I want to take my email from him and let him use his own and take my wife's off my account. The order of the shuffle is the part I'm not sure about or if it can be done lol
Trust me if I could see the future when I did this I wouldn't have done it this way
