To start i think i need to get new thermal paste however i dont understand something.
When i play a game like red dead redemption 2(graphically taxing and should be one of the most hard to run for xbox) i can play for hours however if i play one game of siege i could be kicked multiple times in the one 15 minute period my xbox is in a place which isnt very warm although i have had it since they first came out and i live in scotland so the general climate isnt warm. This makes me think that it could be something else doing this to make it overheat.
Another thing i have to mention is that the xbox has never forcefully shutdown which is positive ig.

Thank you for your post! Please remember the support here is not official and is handled on a volunteer basis. Once you have posted your concern here, we ask that you be patient and not spam your thread elsewhere in the server, that will slow the process down.

If your issue is regarding an account/billing issue, you will need to reach out to Xbox Support directly.

In order for members of the community to provide adequate support, make sure you have provided answers to the following:

  1. What is your issue?

Be specific. If your issue is with an Xbox console, please include which model and what your OS version is, as well as if you are in an Xbox Insider Program ring. If your issue is on PC, please include relevant versions (Windows version, any version information for specific apps in question, etc).

  1. What troubleshooting have you tried?

Please list everything you have attempted.

  1. Have you searched #1091756150644555946 for anyone else with your issue or researched your issue on the internet?

If so, what results have you seen and tried?

If you do not provide answers to all of these questions, you are not likely to receive a response.

Once you have posted, please ensure you have answered all the questions and be patient. Do not go to other channels and ask for help, that slows things down.

If you need immediate support, please contact Xbox Support.

Additionally, no one here can assist with Enforcement actions of any sort.

Your Xbox is also not overheating if it is not turning itself off and then turning back on with a full screen “overheating” warning message.

oh, earlier you said you weren't getting any warnings.

#

if you are getting warnings and your xbox is not in a tightly enclosed space (like a cabinet) and your xbox does have airflow to the fan area, then you need to contact official support

#

The 'top' looking part needs to be open (it is the top when standing upright, or like whatever direction when it is on its side...')

#

and if you have it standing up like that then it needs to be on a hard smooth surface so the air can come in through the bottom. Do not stand it upright on fuzzy carpetting or a blanket or whatever

#

but if you have it set up like normal then you should not be getting error messages. If you are, then it is a sign that something is busted and only official support can assist with that

Ok thanks for the help it is standing upright on wood flooring and the fan is quite loud which I thought it might need new thermal paste because i have had it since it release idk how long like 5 years or something

@full vine have you found a definite fix ?

#

my Xbox has seemingly the exact same problem. I'm thinking about taking it to a repair shop or buying a new console entirely

#

Ive had this problem for months now I have seen on twitter that Xbox's can randomly catch fire so I'm not sure if its safe to keep playing as usaly

#

lmk if you find a fix thanks 🙂

The console will not randomly catch fire. That was an internet hoax.
But the fit was to give the console enough space for ventilation.
