I have rechargeable batteries but they won't charge every time i plug in the cable to charge it and it keeps saying critical after i charged it for 2 days

Are you using individual batteries or a battery pack?
Individual batteries don't charge from the controller, so plugging it in isn't going to do anything. You need an actual battery charger to do that, or a battery pack like the Play-and-Charge kit.

If you charge it fully and it shows 100%, then drops to 10% after a few hours. Then you have a dying battery pack.

To be clear are you using “a battery pack” from a company other than Microsoft or are you using “The official Xbox Play and Charge Kit from Microsoft”

I have a cable that came with the xbox and tried to charge it by plugging the cable into the front of the xbox where the usb is

Where did this controller come from? As far as I know Microsoft never bundled a play & charge kit with a controller
