I have tried plugging in my Xbox into different outlets as well as extension cords, that did not fix this issue
if you plug the chromecast does the xbox still shut down when playing games?
No.
is the console actually powering down or is the screen just switching to the chromecast
It powers down as if I powered it down, with the sound cues and everything
Could it be a HDMI-CEC issue? Although I wouldn’t know how that would work because I’m using a Chromecast remote that is not at all tied to Xbox
And I didn’t touch the Chromecast remote once while I was playing my games
yeah i was about to say that
it would seem your chromecast is telling the console to power down via HDMI CEC the remote doesnt have to be linked to the console. The fact they both connected to your tv can cause that. Especially as you say it does not happen if the cast is not connected.
All i can sudgest is not look at your cast settings and maybe turn HDMI CEC off in your xbox settings
Yeah, I’ll turn it off from Xbox settings
But I just don’t know how it can happen when I’m not even touching the Chromecast remote at all when I’m playing my video games
Baby, I don’t even wanna know
Maybe*
I’ll play around and see if the issue still persists and update this ticket
the point in HDMI CEC is that you dont have to touch the remote other devices can control other devices
Sure, but should not be doing anything on its own, right?
yes and no it shouldnt be doing it if you dont have it set up to do so. For example every time i turn my xbox off my TV turns off with out me even touching the tv or any remote because i have it set to do so.
hi
@opal spruce it was indeed HDMI-CEC, much thanks for help
