Hey everyone quick question after you download and install a Series X|S game, or any backwards compatible game as well via digital or disc and have your profile/console as the home Xbox. I know once you download and install the games and DLCs for games you can play them offline if you don’t have internet. My question is is there a time limit where you can play the games and dlcs offline until you need to go back online or can you stay offline indefinitely without running into any issues?

I think it is a month, but you also have to keep your Xbox plugged in (not turned on)
Gotcha bit of a bummer you can’t play your games/dlc offline indefinitely even when having your Xbox home set up. I guess it how they do it like with Steam. :/
Oh wait I just noticed you talked about discs too… your disc games should be fine. The proof of ownership is the actual disc. For the digitally purchased games the license has to be checked online occasionally
Ah gotcha well at least that’s good. Unfortunately I am guessing DLCs would also need to be checked occasionally as they are online.
I was just asking because I am soon going to be somewhere without internet for about 2 or three months and plan on bringing my Xbox and it would stink if I could not eventually play any of my games offline. 🥲
If there is cell phone connection you could always use it as a mobile hotspot
I was going to ask if I could do that. Do you happen to know how long I need to have my phones hotspot connected to the console for it to do the 30 day reset to let me play my digital games and DLCs offline again?
There is no time limit that I'm aware of, but also you can only play them offline if the account that bought them has set the offline console as their Home Xbox
I don't know where this 30 day thing keeps coming from
Yeah I keep seeing every 30 days too.
Also the plugged in requirement is only for subscription content. Games you fully own should be launchable indefinitely.
Yeah I own/bought the digital games and DLCs on my account on my home Xbox.
I think it’s due to the licensing thing. I think even PlayStation might have it as well not 100% sure about that though.
There was a 30 day limit in the announced pre-Durango launch plan but we all know how that turned out
Anyway, there is no 30 day limit.
Gotcha I appreciate it. Just in case I’ll have the hotspot option as a back up. I did find something pertaining to licensing expire after a certain amount of days, but for PC game pass. https://support.xbox.com/en-US/help/games-apps/game-setup-and-play/play-games-offline-on-windows-10-using-offline-mode
Ahh good to know thanks. It definitely came up again in the Great Xbox Outage of 2023
