I bought the game Palworld from the Xbox website, but it does not appear in the Xbox application on my computer.

Apply for a refund and buy it in the xbox app for PC if you want to play on PC.
ah looking it looks like it is play anywhere so you should be able to install the game though the xbox app with the same account.
