in case it helps, it connected perfectly fine to my ipad

Open system settings, make sure bluetooth is turned on, turn on your controller, hold the little 'pair' button down until the controller light starts flashing, then it will appear in teh bluetooth list on your mac and click 'connect'. it might take like 15 seconds. then the 'keyboard setup assistant' will appear and you can just close it. you might get popups from chrome and steam and whatever asking to use it too

i just paired a brand new controller to my mac to double-check those steps and it worked
