If so, what results have you seen and tried?

Do you mean it vibrates?

They have no speaker in them so they can't beep.

I would return it for a replacement then if it's not working.

Was it a big brand shop or an independent shop? Controllers shouldn't beep so may be a fake controller.

I see, ill try asking for a replacement. But is there anyway to check if it is a genuine controller or not?

You can try registering the serial number over at https://account.microsoft.com/devices to see if it's accepted.

If it's happening when you plug it in though that may just be the vibration you're hearing. The controllers definitely don't beep as they have no way to do that.

But if the controller doesn't work even when connected via USB then I'd return it any way as that sounds faulty. Connecting via USB it should connect right away.
