Does anyone know how to fix Xbox one not connecting to xbox live on 360 games?
(For context, earlier today I tried to connect to world at war multiplayer, however it wouldn't connect. This was odd as it was able to connect to black ops 1&2. So I tried downloading profile and that got a credentials fail. So big deal no WaW MP... Here's the bull crap part, now I can't connect to Xbox live on 360 games, AT ALL)

Have you gone into your Storage settings on the Xbox One settings menu and cleared 360 storage from there?
You mean failed to connect after clearing the 360 storage?

Ok, so I'm trying with Black Ops 2 right now and I'm also seeing connection lost (it signed me in when the game first launched and said I had a friend online, but then showed me "Connect to live" in the 360 guide once I got to the BO2 main menu)
Okay so it's a universal problem rn? As in the servers for Xbox live are probably just down

I’ve heard from friends the past days that the 360 servers have been quite unstable (more than usual) brute forcing has not worked
The network test on 360 is also broken atm so seems like there are some issues
It may be something specific with the Black Ops 2 back compat title too

I can load up Brutal Legend and it shows me as online in that
It shouldn’t affect people on real hardware though?
I don't have BO1 digitally and I can be bothered to go find my disc
The thing is right, WaW wasnt working today or yesterday but BO1 was working for a while

Just tested BO1 and yeah that doesn’t sign in either
It could also just be possible there is something with BO2 at the same time as the 360 servers are being 360 servers, giving a kinda flaky experience with connection
Okay so it's not just a me problem, it's most likely universal

The other issue I had last week was I needed to turn on/off my gamepass recurring billing to be able to sign in again. That might be what you have as well

Somewhat related but not exactly the same issue, but I've been having more issues than normal with staying connected on 360 titles within the last few months as well.

Been a trick since at least 2020 when I kinda got back in the 360 scene
I think the network test on 360 is completely down, it will say failed at the internet step no matter what. A lot of people posting about it in Reddit atm. Not sure if its been like that for a while but I noticed it a few days ago
I’m not sure what triggers that but seems random each time it’s popped up

Still happening on CoD MW2 and WaW via back compat mode. Works fine on my 360. Lots of folks over at r/Xbox360 been complaining for days about connection issues to live, haven't been able to play. Can we get a status update on the page? 360 been throwing lots of errors lately on the store, games, download history, etc.
I'm having the exact same problem, the support team just made it worse to the point where all the 360 games cant connect to xbox live.
Seems even worse for me today, can’t even access my download history without constant errors
It's been like that since well years, anything within the account button will give some errors

I'm a big trophy hunter on playstation and was thinking of getting into it on xbox and thought 'man if it's like this why bother'
Seems a bit hit or miss for me, some of them don’t connect so can’t even access the cloud saves to play
That would be specific to a 360 console only, not a back compat version of the game.

It's an unplanned outage, it entirely depends on how long it takes to identify the issue and then how long once the issue is identified, it takes to remediate it.

where? I just see the current timestamp with 'we're working on it' which is just an automatically updated thing to the current time and been that way since the notice went live

I just logged in to work and checked the investigation discussion thread, it should be clearing up for everyone here shortly it looks like. The issue was finally identified and the deployment started over an hour ago 🙂
@slim phoenix @untold kraken @reef spear @wet sun @shy verge @viscid storm @native dome @quaint mason Since you all joined this support thread, letting you know the 360 / back compat problem with not being able to sign into Live with some games should either be resolved now or shortly for you all (service deployment began about 90 minutes ago).

Have you tried clearing your 360 storage and then trying again?
Does it give you an error code at all? Does it successfully download your profile after clearing 360 storage?
It doesn’t give me the option to download my profile due to it always saying “Can't connect to Xbox Live. Select Test Connection to troubleshoot your connection.

So when you launch a back compat title, it just gives you the can't connect to Xbox Live error immediately?

Does checking network status then says the message up there

Ok, you appear to be hitting a different issue then what everyone else was hitting then. Something on your network may be blocking some of the servers.
I’ve not tested extensively but seems to be more stable now and less store errors. I can now actually scroll to the bottom of my download history on 360 which didn’t work before.
