#Xbox One Controller not syncing with sync button or USB

So I had to replace the front on/off/eject panel along with the ribbon cable. Unfortunately the on/off functions are swapped so I’m unsure if this has anything to do with the sync button on the side not working. The controller worked fine both plugged into usb and wirelessly before I took the Xbox apart. When putting it back together, it seemed to reset to default functions which left us with 0 controllers to even try to get into the settings. When trying to press the pair button on the side of the Xbox, it makes a noise and nothing happens despite having the controller in pair mode. When it’s hooked up to the USB cable, it vibrates once when being plugged in and nothing happens. I hold and press the Xbox logo in the middle and it simply flashes.

I have no idea what to do at this point. If anyone has any idea on what I can do or where to find the sync button if I were to open the machine up so I can at least connect the controllers that would be great.

Xbox in question is the first xbox one system. All controllers worked fine until I opened the system up to do repairs.

Thanks!

Adding on to this-
If it makes a difference, I can toss the old on/off/eject panel back in and go from there
