#headset on Xbox working but also not working

I have a recon 70 turtle Beach headset, I plugged it into my Xbox controller and went to record a clip, even though my headset mic is on and is in the unmute position, the clip doesn't have my mic audio

Here's what I've tried so far

  • Switched controllers, I've used the Razer wolfverine v2, and a Series S controller and a One S controller but no audio

  • ensured the headset works, it records audio both in my laptop and phone

  • made sure in the privacy and other settings I can use my headphones

  • I got into a call with myself on discord and the headset worked and I could hear myself.

For some reason when I join with myself on discord, the mic works perfectly fine but it doesn't work at all for game recordings.

Yes I'm trying to record both gameplay and my voice

I don't think it does? I had another pair of headphones and I used that without issue for sound recording on the Xbox
