If you go into the Xbox Accessory app on the PC with the controller connected, what firmware version is on the controller, while it's wired to the PC?

i just updated it but is there a way to check it?

You should be able to click on the controller and for the firmware update, and I think it should tell you the version there in the details, but it's been a bit since I did that on PC (I know console shows it to you there)

#

Give me a bit and I'll dig out a cable to check on my PC

#

Ok, with the Elite controller wired in, if you press the 3 dots, on t he new page, you'll see firmware version in the top left

ok, that should be the latest, if you go back to the page above with the picture and click the right button to test, do you see the B button being constantly pressed?

yup

Ok, then yes, unfortunately you happened to get a bad controller (and the double left and right presses are because the B button is stuck down)

#

Since you just bought it, I would take it to Best Buy (I think that's where you said you purchased it) for an exchange

the main reason I wanted to check in the accessories app is some games will use a different input API that reads the controller differently than modern APIs, so without some extra drivers, you can get that behavior you described in the game.
