I have an old xbox 1 that I bought new and never had any trouble with in the past. It sat for probably three years without being used. Recently I plugged it back in and bought used copies of two games. I inspected the disks and there is no visible damage. However, when I try to install either it gets partway through the install then will repeatedly stop and start the
installation, never making any progress. Please help!

Thank you for your post! Please remember the support here is not official and is handled on a volunteer basis. Once you have posted your concern here, we ask that you be patient and not spam your thread elsewhere in the server, that will slow the process down.

If your issue is regarding an account/billing issue, you will need to reach out to Xbox Support directly.

In order for members of the community to provide adequate support, make sure you have provided answers to the following:

  1. What is your issue?

Be specific. If your issue is with an Xbox console, please include which model and what your OS version is, as well as if you are in an Xbox Insider Program ring. If your issue is on PC, please include relevant versions (Windows version, any version information for specific apps in question, etc).

  1. What troubleshooting have you tried?

Please list everything you have attempted.

  1. Have you searched #1091756150644555946 for anyone else with your issue or researched your issue on the internet?

If so, what results have you seen and tried?

If you do not provide answers to all of these questions, you are not likely to receive a response.

Once you have posted, please ensure you have answered all the questions and be patient. Do not go to other channels and ask for help, that slows things down.

If you need immediate support, please contact Xbox Support.

Additionally, no one here can assist with Enforcement actions of any sort.

Aditionally, I have tried restarting the xbox, clearing game cache, cleaning the disks, and just waiting. Nothing has worked.

Oo that's a though one,

I would advise you to perform an in-place upgrade. This can fix broken system files while keeping your personal files, settings, and installed apps. To do this, you need to download the Media Creation Tool from Microsoft and follow the instructions.

Not much. Try a factory reset of the console and if that doesn't work you may just have a faulty disc drive or some other problem we can't resolve in this chat.

Perhaps you know more than I do about this. Talk of the media creation tool made me think about installing or upgrading Windows.

Coming from Op, the games have no physical damage. It must be a storage issue.
