Some of my games and apps do not install on my xbox, failing at some point during the installation with message "Installation stopped"
This is happening currently with Battlefield 1 (disc) and the avatar editor.
I have tried deleting the game and attempting to reinstall from nothing, but the install is still unsuccessful.
I have enough free disk space.

It said "check your disc" even though at that moment it was downloading from the network and not reading the disc
my disc is totally fine, so i deleted what was installed and tried again and it seems to just be downloading everything from the internet
will come back if it still doesn't work

Cancel the failed install restart your xbox and install the game offline
Or try installing it from the mobile app

Yeah, both of those are the best troubleshooting options.

okay it seems to have worked fine this time around. Guess it was some weird bug that got fixed a while ago, I dunno
