I'm on Xbox Series S and on "4K TV details" it says "Your TV setup supports up to native 1440p at 120 FPS" even though I'm using an HDMI 2.1 cable and my TV is also HDMI 2.1. My question is: if I set my console to 4K, will it block 120 FPS on games ?

i imagine that very few gakes are gonna hit 4k 120 on a Series S, given that very few can even do that on a Series X

Only way to know for sure is to try it out for your particular AV setup, I think.

I tried at 4k120 and at 1440p120 and they seem the same refresh rate to me

Is there any way to know ?

Are you playing a game that supports 120 FPS on Series S?

#

Also, many TVs will have some kind of info display indicating the current resolution and FPS when it switches modes or inputs.

the game also as to support what your trying to do. If your tv is 4k 120 and you play a game that supports 1080p 60 then the game will run at 1080 60 even though your tv and console are set differently

Ok, that should support it. Well, there's really not much we can do with "they seem the same refresh rate to me," honestly though.

#

Did you try 1080p at 120?

#

Because that's all the game supports.

#

And also, I'm assuming you were doing single player campaign or split screen? Because as far as I know MCC doesn't support 120 for multiplayer.
