yes you can ask your friend to go too account.microsoft.com/orders and they can get the code and resend it too you.

If they purachsed the game it show on the account they purachsed the gift on and can resend it too you. Correct there is no way it get back Xbox chats that were delated by mistake back. Otherwise get your friend to contact support with the order number
