Hi all, I've tried to format this hdd in every which way, but my Series S jus won't see it. Fat32, exFAT, NTFS, just nothing. My console can see little stick memories just fine, and my Mac can see the WD external HDD.

I've also reset my console, and tried all of the ports. I'm kind of stumped at this point. Any advice? TIA!

your hdd is working on pc?

tough maple
#

Yes

karmic mango
#

you format your drive?

tough maple
#

Yes, right now it's exFAT.

karmic mango
#

try another type

#

because me when I use my hdd it say it need to be at NTFS

tough maple
#

have tried NTFS

karmic mango
#

in my series x

tough maple
#

still nothing

karmic mango
tough maple
#

no

karmic mango
#

when you go to record setting you don't find it on external device?

tough maple
#

exactly

karmic mango
#

I think I know why

tough maple
#

why?

karmic mango
#

I too had this kind of problem it was a problem in the port of the xbox, I had to change my console at Microsoft and then it was fixed, but for another solution, I don't think I can help

tough maple
#

but all 3 ports have this problem?

karmic mango
#

no, it's the motherboard

#

did you try with a usb?

tough maple
#

any other USB stick works

#

just not this WD HDD

karmic mango
#

did you try a app called adv file explorer to check

#

it's like File Explorer in xbox

tough maple
#

adv file explorer is not seeying it either

karmic mango
#

when you plug in the hdd do you see it light up? like the noise that makes

tough maple
#

yes the light is on, the HDD is spinning

#

it's just the xbox not seeying it

karmic mango
#

you try a clean format with cmd?

tough maple
#

yes

karmic mango
#

not the quick format

tough maple
#

i've formatted it multiple times, in all formats, from both a Windows PC and a Mac

karmic mango
#

I never heard that an HDD works on pc and not xbox

tough maple
#

that's why I'm here 🙂

#

I'm also out of ideas

karmic mango
#

what is the mark of your hard drive

tough maple
#

WD Elements, 1TB, USB 3

#

I've even tried installing WD utilities to maybe update the firmware, no such thing...

karmic mango
#

by the way, would you like to use it for games?

#

or records

tough maple
#

for old 360 games

#

I know the new X/S optimised games can only be run on internal or expansion card

karmic mango
#

then why?

#

also 360 games don't take a lot of storage

#

but I think a series s have a small storage space..

tough maple
#

because I have a lot of them, also Xbox One games

karmic mango
#

oh

#

but for the problem of the series s I have no idea, I'm sorry I can't help you

#

is it still under warranty?

tough maple
#

Thanks for your time, I bought it in January, so perhaps it's still in warranty

karmic mango
#

you can go to microsoft and see if they can fix the problem

tough maple
#

I tried both xbox and WD support, they all say the same thing, format and reset

karmic mango
#

like I did with my series x, the hdmi port was not working so they give me a new one

tough maple
#

thanks!

karmic mango
#

you're welcome, and sorry bcs I couldn't find a solution

Did you try a full restart with the HDD connected?
