Does it work with another tv or monitor with same and different hdmi cable?

If that doesn't work then something is wrong with his hdmi port and should send it for repair

I'll let him know about that, his controllers though aren't connecting to his console as well.

nope. sorry he could try bringing it 2 his local game shop 2 see if its the hdmi port.
