As the title states.

Console: Xbox Series S
OS Version: 10.0.22621.4918 (xb_flt_2306ni.230710-1715)

  • I am enrolled into the Insider program though I can't check what ring I'm in currently since the insider app was installed to my USB drive.

I typically have a USB dongle for a wireless keyboard in one back USB, and a HDD connected into the other. The drive itself is a Western Digital blue 2TB SATA hard disk drive (model WD20SPZX), connected with a SATA to USB adapter. The drive works perfectly around 80% of the time, and when it doesn't work it just doesn't appear at all. Typically a reboot would resolve this issue no problem, however now performing a reboot has no effect at all.
Swapping the keyboard's dongle and the HDD's USB connections allows the drive to connect, and the keyboard works fine in the port that was just earlier not working at all with the HDD

Hitting it with a flashlight shows the USB ports are indeed clean, there's always something plugged into them anyways. Is this a common issue for others? I really don't want to play swip-swap with my USB devices every week just to use the games on my external drive.

I had the same problem with one of my old drives. It turned out the usb 3 (I believe it's usb 3 for most drives) cord that connected the drive to the Xbox had broke and that was the issue, I just had a spare usb 3 cord that I switched out and it worked. The problem is probably the cord that connects drive to Xbox. That may just be for me and others may have better solutions.
