my xbox controller doesnt work when i put it the battery pack

like when its pluged in with the cable it works perfectly, but when i put in the battery pack it wont turn on and when i plug it in with the battery pack the controller lights on , but it doesnt work

Is it the official battery pack?
Because if it's not i'm having the same issue with one of my controllers (probably because it's from an early series X) so I guess it's normal in that case
