So I have just plugged a SanDisk into my Xbox and it just come up with "When formatting is done you'll be able to use the games and apps on SanDisk with any xbox console you plug it into. It will usable only with xbox consoles."
Does this mean that I will never be able to use the disk on my laptop ever again or not use the xbox game on my laptop ect which is what I expect I just don't want to risk making it xbox exclusive when I need it for my laptop.

yes. it will automatically reformat it for pc use if u plug it into a laptop or pc. I personally have 2 portable hdd one for personal use and 1 for xbox
So just to double check I could plug my sandisk into my xbox move a game over play it then put the game back onto the xbox and continue using the drive for my pc like before? The main reason I want to do this Is to see how the 13 mbs read speed runs online games.
is this a ssd or mechanical hdd?
A SanDisk idk the difference between sss and mechanical hdd but I believe its an ssd.
mechanical hdd are the slowest hdd then sata ssd then nvme ssd
it should continue to work on ur pc but just remember when u have a game installed or when u have ur own personal stuff and back ur personal stuff up
Am I allowed to link the amazon page here so you can see what it is?
u could try it
So it wipes all my data each transfer?
oh you dn't want to play games off something like that
thats a flash drive dont use that
Thought so with 13 mbs read ok 🤣
its not built for gaming just office work
I was hoping it was good and wanted test it because its quite a bit cheaper.
Thanks for the help 🤣
usually u can get 1tb or 2tb hdd for 50 or so especially with prime day next week
Would I just search hdd?
yeah but i would wait til prime day to get a better one with more storage at a cheaper price
portable hdd
Ok ty for all your help I'm probably gonna close this post now since it's all solved and then search for an xbox portable hdd
it doesnt need to be xbox portable hdd just any portable hdd will work fine on ur xb1 as long it is usb 3.0 and i believ 256 mbs
Well I'm xbox one testing my own drive but my mates xs
thats a different story
sdd loads faster on series console but on xb1 it really dont matter
So what would I be looking for?
Sorry this is quite off topic for what yoy originally came here for 🤣
np
it depends on ur needs and u need to do ur own research. check out load times on xbox series consoles hdd vs ssd and expansion card
i have a series x and still uses a mechanical hdd for all xb1 games. sdd may cost a bit more than hdd
So does sdd not run new gen games as well?
So with what you were on about would this work bc its mainly my mates xb1 games taking his storage like rdr2 and bo3 https://www.amazon.co.uk/External-Lightweight-Portable-Harddrive-extended/dp/B09V4W2PJ3/ref=mp_s_a_1_7_sspa?adgrpid=117280845556&hvadid=606434792855&hvdev=m&hvlocphy=1007184&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=e&hvrand=14290608407539941802&hvtargid=kwd-301674008069&hydadcr=10302_2165380&keywords=1tb+internal+hard+drive&qid=1688426138&sr=8-7-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9waG9uZV9zZWFyY2hfbXRm&psc=1
on those games hdd is fine. it takes like less than a minute to load in on rdr2. its only difference is basically the load times. maybe a bit boost in perf if the games had any fps bost etc
Ty so much I've sent it over to my mate he's gonna order it and I'll prob close this post down.
wait til prime day next week he could get for cheaper and more memory
It's already 10% off so is it worth waiting?
i mean it couldnt hurt its only a week it not like 2 months or something like that
Ok thanks for the help
