I play this xbox 360 game which I bought a week ago from Microsoft store which is GTA 4 and I’m not sure if it does this for other games too but when I play this game 5 minutes is overheating a little then when I play for like 20 or 30 minutes it starts overheating and my fan smells like cooking and when I touch the fan is hot like bad.

make sure its in a open space not in a cabinet and nothing is blocking it or on top of it.
Unless you get a error that says the console is shutting down because its overheating then it isn't overheating consoles PC etc can get too 80+oc
It is possible for things to break though. If the fan literally “smells like cooking” it might be broken and rubbing….
Assuming you’ve followed Paul’s advice to ensure it is in an appropriate location and it still smells like burning plastic or whatever then you’ll need to contact support
I mean it shouldn’t be broken because i bought this Xbox 2 months ago.
Hm, I mean I have a extended storage plugged to my Xbox it’s a USB and I put it on top of my Xbox maybe is because of that.
I’m not sure and I didn’t know your console shuts down if is actually overheating or maybe that’s in some occasions, thanks for the advice though I’ll contact support if it still smells like burning smoke.
Yea things generally aren’t broken. But they do break sometimes. That’s kind of the thing with “break” - it is unexpected and unwanted lol
if you have something on top of the console blocking the vent then yeah of course thats can cause issue
