#Xbox Series S stuck on a black screen when turned on

Try turning it off, then press and HOLD the power button until it beeps a second time. If in doubt, keep holding. You'll know when you hear it. This should reset the display output mode. I have another tip to prevent recurrence if this works.
My bad i was messing around with it
Let me plug everything in first
Im holding the power button
The light turned off but no second sound
It didn't really do much
Sorry, you're supposed to press and hold while it is OFF.
I did
Did you do that? Talking of the light going off made me wonder.
Ill try again
OK well, if it doesn't work I'm outta ideas but that worked for me.
Im trying to turn it off but the noise is telling me its turning on
The light is showing and when i press it it doesnt do anything
Ok its off ima hold now
Its off and im holding and it turned on and then off again
I turned it on but nothing is happening
Ill just leave it unplugged for now
When I had to do this it was on a Series X, and that fixed the problem by resetting the display mode. 😦
When it came back on it was at a very low resolution but I was able to see it and change the settings.
Alr im not sure what to do now
Stupid question, but you're using the button on the console, not on the controller, right?
https://support.xbox.com/en-GB/help/hardware-network/display-sound/tv-or-monitor-screen-is-blank-while-connected
This is where I got that tip when I needed it. Under the third expandable item.
Yes lol
Alr thnx ill check it out
I connected my controller back to my xbox with a wire and the xbox led on my controller is flashing
Is that normal?
I am uncertain.
I don’t think the wireless pairing light should be able to blink if you have it connected with a working usb cable
Its been a while and i just re connected everything and it still doesnt work
Im not sure what to do now because i think all i did was restart my xbox and then i turned it on and the xbox led started flashing, then i powered it off and then turned it on and now its been like this ever since
Not really sure what to do now
I dont think thats the problem anyways, might just be a glitch
Even worse is if i get it fixed my ac: Odyssey hasnt started downloading yet so ill have to wait for that too 🥲
You can try to do a factory reset and see if that helps
https://support.xbox.com/en-US/help/hardware-network/console/reset-console-to-factory-defaults
Isnt a factory reset where everything gets wiped?
Also im not sure its the xbox because it turns on it just doesnt show up on the monitor so maybe its just the monitor?
all your stuff is saved in the cloud not on the console as long as your connected to the internet
I dont think i can factory reset it because i cant see the screen
Ok
Read the link I provided 😦
I read it but i dont think factory reseting does anything
I found some comments on some site of people who have the same problem and they say to put the xbox in low resolution mode but when i hold the sync and the xbox button there is no two beeps
I think the low res mode might be the fix but for some reason i only get the beep that is the xbox turning on and not any other beeps
I held both buttons for over a minute with no second beep
xbox series s was restarted and then when it was turned on the monitor stayed black and has been
Press and hold the Power button and the Eject button until you hear a beep to turn on the console. You’ll hear one beep right away and a second beep 10 seconds later. The power light will flash on before the second beep. Don’t let go until you hear the second beep or see the console start up in low resolution mode (the Xbox startup screen will appear slightly pixelated).
Note If you have an Xbox Series S or Xbox One S All-Digital Edition, press and hold the Xbox button and the Pair button instead, as your console doesn’t have an Eject button.
nothing about the sync button so that is why that isnt working for you
What is the Xbox button and the Pair button
Controller button and the xbox button
the xbox button is the xbox button on the console ( the power button) the Pair button aka the sync button
Thats the buttons i have been pressing and holding
Unless you mean the xbox controller pair
The sync button as in the one on the same side as the power button
0:43
Are these the two buttons?
do you have a series S or X
S
okay fair enough
It workes for everyone else including as you see in the video as to why it isnt working for you no idea. I would do what Tact said
Alright thanks anyways
I dont really want to factory reset because i bought a game just before this happened and it never got to download or anything so im scared to factory reset it because i dont wanna lose the game
we explained a factory reset will not do this
You also have the option to choose keep my games and apps but even if you fully reset you can just redownload them. This is all explained on the page Tact gave you and in my last post and in the post were Tact told you too read the link he gave you
At this point we done trobleshooting as there isnt anything else we can advise. So you can either do the advised or not up to you.
But what happens if i bought a game and it didnt download yet?
nothing changes
