the instruction manual notes how much space is required aroudn the xbox. ensure that there is the right amount of space / air flow, they it isn't enclosed in a tight cabinet, etc.

unless you're actually getting the screen that says 'shut down do to overheating...' then it isn't overheating

you need to do some troubleshooting and provide people with more details... 'it shuts off' is not enoguh.
When playing a game? When sitting at the dashboard? After 5 minutes? After 5 hours? idk lots of other things you should think about
