i just got the xbox core controller after having the elite 2 for 3 years and ultimately not really working anymore after 2 days of use the right stick has gotten a little bit of drift like i move the stick slightly to the top left and if i let go it would continue to do it very annoying for fps games could it be because it’s a new controller and maybe the drift would go after a few more uses it seemed to stop after a while i’ve come off now and wondering if this a thing that happens with new controllers and they go after time or should i be taking it back and getting a new one thank you for any help

It’s defective. New controllers shouldn’t have drift.
