i get this on my 8 year old xbox one when trying to install the latest update

It's an internet timeout trying to connect to the Xbox servers and download the update. Try using a wired connection if you can.

Connected by ethernet and get the same thing

Try resetting your modem and router. If you still have issues, then try an offline update for the console
