That's normal. Space is required for required files, and that size gets bigger the bigger your HD is.

brazen oar
#

But i plug it in to my ps5 and it says 2 tb im soo confused

idle hatch
#

Because the HD itself is 2tb, but some of that is used for required, hidden files.

brazen oar
#

Oh so the xbox may have more files?

brazen oar
#

Oh wait i think i understand so its like on the series s the system requires like half the storage to operate the system correct?

#

No

#

It's nothing to do with the Xbox. The console's operating system is stored on the internal drive, not any external that you plug in.

#

The link explains why you're not seeing 2TB

brazen oar
#

Oh i understand

#

Then why not just advertise the actual storage thats the main problem i had with the series s

valid sparrow
#

It is advertising the actual storage.

brazen oar
#

Butits not advertising the actual usable storage

valid sparrow
#

It is. But the system you use the drive on uses a different method to report the storage.

brazen oar
#

Oh so i fo have 2tb?

valid sparrow
#

I give up

brazen oar
#

IT DOES ADVERTISE THE STORAGE OF 2 TB YES?

#

CAN I USE 2 TB?

valid sparrow
#

Read the link - and chill with the caps

#

You can use whatever space it tells you there is on the Xbox.

#

Or whatever device you hook it up to.

brazen oar
#

Oh

#

So its different across systems?

#

Sorry for being difficult im just struggling

valid sparrow
#

If you actually read the page linked, it explains it all.

brazen oar
#

Im an xbox user you think i can read?

Yes this is the correct info

Xbox and all windows based devices display capacities in gibibytes and tebibytes while PlayStation uses gigabytes and terabytes.
