So whenever I press start on a game, my whole Xbox shut down and I get logged out and then it hits me with this screen and I’ve been moving my Xbox onto bigger spaces and it reaches over and it doesn’t overheat that much does let me watch, YouTube

willow ridge
#

Hits you with what screen?

latent flame
#

I don’t have permission to send a picture

willow ridge
#

You can write the error or describe it.

latent flame
#

Ok it says

#

This Xbox console is designed to automatically shut down to protect it from insufficient ventilation.
Like other electronic devices, the Xbox console requires proper ventilation. To help prevent another automatic shutdown:
•Do not block any of the ventilation openings on the console or power supply.
•Do not place the console or power supply in a confined spade or fully enclosed space, such as a closed stereo cabinet, or bookshelf entertainment centre, unless the space is well ventilated and cabinet doors are open.
• Do not place the console or power supply on a bed, sofa or other soft surface that may block ventilation openings.
• Do not place the console or power supply near any heat sources, such as radiators, heat registers, stoves or amplifiers.

Even set up a clear table on its own, and I put the Xbox on it

If it's overheating then make sure it's not dusty and the area around it is clean. Also make sure there's a minimum of a couple of inches clear space around it.

If it's still shutting down, then you'll need to send it for repair.

latent flame
#

Ok

#

Thank you but how do I clean the inside?

willow ridge
#

You don't clean the inside. That's for professionals to do if it's needed.

#

Which model console is it?

latent flame
#

Oh, you mean if it’s not dusty on the outside?

willow ridge
#

Which Xbox do you have?

latent flame
#

The original Xbox one and if you remember, it’s the Minecraft dirt block looking one

willow ridge
#

So a One S

latent flame
#

No

willow ridge
#

Yes

latent flame
#

Just an original Xbox one

#

Not an X or an S

willow ridge
#

I don't recall an original model Xbox One that was Minecraft themed.

latent flame
#

It would be a bit more helpful for you if I could just send you a picture of it

#

Could I DM you it?

willow ridge
#

It doesn't really matter. Just make sure there's no dust in the vents.

latent flame
#

How do I know if there’s dust in the vents?

#

Do I just blow it out with my air

willow ridge
#

You would see it.

latent flame
#

Ok

#

Should I unplug all the cables before I start?

willow ridge
#

But if it's an original Xbox One model, then it may be failing hardware at this point.

#

Yes, unplug it.

latent flame
#

Yeah bro, I’ve had this for years

#

I think it’s a 2016 Xbox

#

Maybe

willow ridge
latent flame
#

Yes yes! That one yes

willow ridge
#

Yes, that's a One S like I said it was.

latent flame
#

Really?

willow ridge
#

Yes, really.

latent flame
#

Wow 🤩 I never new that

#

So it wouldn’t be old?

willow ridge
#

It's still pretty old

latent flame
#

Oh

willow ridge
#

Just not as old as an original model. 2016 is hardly new.

latent flame
#

Should it be time to get a new one or should I get a PC maybe?

willow ridge
#

That's up to you. But the One S is discontinued now and Microsoft won't repair it. You'd need to find somewhere else.

latent flame
#

Oh damn f

#

But I can link the Xbox to a PC right?

#

I can put in the password and email and login on PC with it right?

willow ridge
#

Well, that's your account, it's not linking the Xbox.

#

You're not going to get all of your games on PC. Only the ones that are Play Anywhere titles.

latent flame
#

I mean if I go onto the Xbox app on the PC and I press sign in and I put in all the my Xbox details I can login with better graphics and everything with the PC is that how it works?

willow ridge
#

Only if the PC you buy is of a higher spec and the games you try to play support better graphics on PC.

But again, you're not going to get all of your games.

latent flame
#

And Can I get sea of thieves on steam?

willow ridge
#

If you buy it, yes.

latent flame
#

I don’t know how much it costs because I usually got it for free with game pass

willow ridge
#

Then you can get it through Game Pass in the Xbox app on PC.

#

If you go to Steam you would need to pay for it because Game Pass doesn't work on Steam games.

latent flame
#

What if I sign in with my Xbox details on the Xbox app on the PC? I will have the game pass still and my sea of thieves?

willow ridge
#

Yes

latent flame
#

Because it’s basically the only game I play 24 seven

latent flame
willow ridge
#

As long as you have Game Pass Ultimate.

latent flame
#

Yeah

thorn bone
#

If you sell your Xbox and just use Pc you can just buy Gamepass for pc. It's a bit cheaper.

willow ridge
#

the Xbox is broken, so don't sell it unless you make it clear that's it's faulty.

thorn bone
#

Sorry, I mean if he replaces his Xbox with a pc

latent flame
willow ridge
#

Don’t shake the Xbox.

latent flame
#

@willow ridge what do i do with the xbox if i cant play it anymore?

#

?

willow ridge
#

Take it somewhere to be checked and possibly repaired. But if you have the money, I'd personally recommend replacing it at this point.

latent flame
latent flame
willow ridge
#

If it's repeatedly shutting down due to overheating and there's things rattling around inside it, I wouldn't use it personally.

latent flame
#

should i throw it away?

#

or should i keep it for looks?

willow ridge
#

Whether you do that or not is up to you. But if you do choose to do that, make sure to do a factory reset first.

I'd also recommend trying a factory reset any way to see if that helps.

latent flame
#

i'll just keep it but never use it ig

#

whats a factory reset?

willow ridge
#

Please stop tagging me.

latent flame
#

sorry man

willow ridge
#

A quick Google would get you the answer for that.

latent flame
#

if i do that i would lose everything

willow ridge
#

No

latent flame
#

it say's Warning Resetting your console to its factory defaults erases all accounts, saved games, settings, and home Xbox associations. Anything not synchronised with the Xbox network will be lost. Your console syncs with the Xbox network automatically when it’s connected with the service, so if you've been offline for a while, connect to the Xbox service before taking these steps.

willow ridge
#

Did you read it all?

latent flame
#

no lol

#

nah its done idc plus i know all the info and im getting a pc in a couple oof months so i can sign back in on pc

willow ridge
#

Nothing will be lost, just temporarily removed. Once you add the account back on and reinstall your games you'll have everything again.

latent flame
#

and plus im to addicted and i need to have a break

latent flame
#

hey will i still have my xbox gold live and game pass when i log back in with my pc?

dusty warren

purchases are tied to your account, not to a specific console or pc.

when you log in to any new device (phone, windows pc, xbox console...) with the same account then you have access to all your subscriptions and games [if the game is playable on that specific platform, not all xbox games can be played on windows and vice versa]
