#XBOX Series X occasional black screen on startup.

Every so often when I start up my Series X, it goes to a black screen. I then have to hold down the power button until it makes a second beep and then it comes back.

I have my XBOX connected to a Dell 27" 1080p HDMI monitor via an HDMI switch. I've swapped out the cables. That's the only troubleshooting step I can think of to try, other than holding the power button thing, which I found by Googling.

Is there anything I could try? Ideally something other than "get a new monitor".

I appreciate any responses I get, regardless of if they solve the problem.

I am not, and this has been happening to me for months, sadly.

#

I wonder if it's something to do with the XBOX not recognising the HDMI connection / EDID of my monitor, maybe due to the switch.

For me it loads to a black screen and I have to press the xbox button to bring up the guide and select home it then loads home with no titles and it then filters all in same when switching between games or apps or areas like My games and apps and home or a game to home

#

ah, okay seems a different issue when your on the blank screen if you press the home button goes the guide open?

Are you selecting Home "blind"?

#

Because I can't see anything.

#

I only get any image back after resetting.

I'm just concerned in case it represents a larger issue that I should get fixed while under warranty.

on the blank screen press the xbox button see if the guide opens if it does then it could be the same issue. In any case I would take the HDMI switch out of the mix and try pluging the xbox right into the tv with HDMI no swicth. If that does not help i would then try factory reseting it by using the bind and eject keys on start up. You could also test on a other tv /moniter

steps to factory reset using a USB

when i say xbox button i mean the button on the controller just to be clear the guide button 🙂
