Ok so I have an Xbox series s and I just recently read that USB compatible hard drives won't play games just store them? What do I need to buy if I want more space?

A USB drive can be used for non-Series enhanced games. For Series games you need the Seagate Expansion Card.

For the record, if you can wait on it, Western Digital is reportedly coming out with one that is considerably cheaper, now that the contract with Seagate is over.
