i got a question for you guys I have xbox one s since 2017 and on friday i turned on the console to be presented with a E106 error and thought that was strange I tried to restart and same issue , tried to reset keeping games and it froze and restarted to E102 error so i downloaded a offline update updated the xbox and it booted right up no issues but since yesterday evening any game i play feels like its running between 10-15 fps if i try modern warfare it barely loads , MK 11 you can barely punch anyone and the fatality cutscenes even feel slow and stutter aswell , i could go on but you get my point but now im wondering could this be the work of a failing hard drive? , or is it something else ? lmk , I know about the guides on the xbox website and thoose haven't been that helpful

Judging by this description it might be failing hard drive yeah

does xbox have any in built hard drive testers / is there any app i could use to test the hard drive / do i have to take the console apart and test it manually on my work desk?

could be anything try moving the game to a other drive to test if it is that

#

Also your resolution may have been reset too 640p when you did the offline update so check your display settings

no

To test the drive just transfer the game too a other drive see if it fixes it or see if its only games on a certain drive. You could also try a factory reset keeping your games and apps.

issue still persists

but it was solid for about 15 minutes before the issues began

so unlikely to be a bad drive then. I would now factory reset it keeping your games and apps. You could also try the xbox on a other display just to rule out any strange display issue. other than that it would be a question of getting it repaired.

well the issue did continue even on a external hopefully it isnt the power supply but Im gonna try replacing the hdd to a sdd (samsung evo 870) in about 20 minutes
