Hey all, I've got a first-generation Xbox One (2014) model from a friend, as the resident techie I've been informed it "didn't turn on one day" and it has such been given to me for free. I've been doing some extensive testing and troubleshooting with it over the past day or so and I think the issue is the HDMI port, but I'd like some confirmation from other Xbox One (not one s, x, etc) owners.
Currently I'm failing to boot into the Startup Troubleshooter, and I've read on some official microsoft support pages that the xbox will not boot without an HDMI display connected.
Despite doing the usual troubleshooter startup (hold sync and eject, tap power, keep holding sync and eject until it beeps twice) I cannot ever get it to beep the second time, and even with a USB thumb drive plugged in with the OSU files correctly installed, I cannot get it to see the USB drive (as indicated by the USB drive's power LED never lighting up.)
If anyone here has an Xbox One and a few minutes, it would be IMMENSELY helpful if you could go through the OSU boot steps: turn off xbox, disconnect power cable (but leave HDMI cable connected), wait 30 seconds, reconnect power, then hold SYNC and EJECT, tap the power button, and keep holding SYNC and EJECT for 10-15 seconds for the two powerup beeps.
If this works, then shut it down and do the same thing with the HDMI unplugged from the xbox, and let me know if it still does the double-beep or not.
